Suicide
Suicide is when an individual takes, or attempts to take, their own life. A suicide attempt is a very clear sign that something of great significance is wrong in a person’s life. People who die by suicide have a mental or emotional disorder, no matter race, age, or socioeconomic status.
Warning signs of someone considering suicide

Verbal threats such as “you’d be better off without me” or “maybe I won’t be around”

Expressions of hopelessness and helplessness

Previous suicide attempts

Daring or risk taking behavior

Increase in drug use
-
Personality changes
-
Depression
-
Giving away prized possessions
-
Lack of interest in future plans
-
Withdrawing from friends and activities

4,600 Americans between the ages of 15 and 24 committed suicide in the year 2010 -- an astonishing rate of over 12 per day. That same year, 274 Americans under the age of 15 also committed suicide.
